Our professional guide will present you the Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon or Temple of Athena Parthenos (Athena the Virgin), the Erechtheum, Theatre of Dionysus where all famous dramas written by Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides were first performed, the impressive Herod Atticus’ Odeum.
During the guiding tour at the Acropolis of Athens you will be introduced about the mystery and the history of Parthenon – where a total of 2,675 tons of architectural members were restored, with 686 stones reassembled from fragments of the originals, 905 patched with new marble, and 186 parts made entirely of new marble. A total of 530 cubic meters of new Pentelic marble were used.
Your guide will narate you of the Athenian democracy - which developed in the Ancient Greek city-state of Athens 3000 years ago – in the Pnix Hill where democracy was first born.
Furthermore, we will continue to visit the New Acropolis Museum to admire the exhibits illustrating 5000 years of history. It is an archaeological museum focused on the findings of the archaeological site of the Acropolis of Athens. The New Acropolis Museum was built in 2003 to house every artifact found on the rock and on its feet, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. It also lies on the archaeological site of Makrygianni at the foot of the Acropolis hill.
After having visited Acropolis of Athens and the New Acropolis Museum, we will depart for a wonderful drive along the scenic coastal road though extremely beautiful scenery which offers a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf, passing through the most elegant summer resorts (Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza) with wonderful sandy or pebbled beaches on one side and luxurious hotels like Cape Sounion and Grand Resort Lagonisi as well as beautiful private villas like the one of Aristotle Onasis on the other side, we will arrive at Cape Sounion at the Temple of Poseidon.
